SU Money Week Update - President Welfare & Inclusivity

As part of SU Money Week, your SU Presidents would like to share with you some updates about the Cost of Living crisis. Here is an update from Georgie, President Exeter 22/23.

The SU Pantry

The SU Pantry is a project that I set up to provide an opportunity for all students to have access to basic tinned and dried foods. The project is based outside of the Students' Union office on Penryn, however I am working on trying to get funding for something to be present on the Falmouth campus.

The feedback I've received from this project has been instrumental in proving to the universities that students need a way to access food support without judgement or jumping through hoops.

We Bleed

The 'We Bleed' campaign has seen the purchase of £6.5k worth of period products. These have been implemented across both the Penryn and Falmouth campuses.

A massive thank you to those who have been working on making this project sustainable within the Facilities team.

The goal of the campaign was to prevent period poverty on our campuses in an inclusive way; an added benefit is that the cost of these products has been removed from students directly.

Partnership Cost of Living

Since September, I've been a part of the Partnership Cost of Living group in which representatives from Falmouth, Exeter and FXPlus come together to work on easing the affect of the Cost of Living crisis on our campuses.

I consistently take feedback to the group from you, the students, and lobby for our partners to do better.

If you have any feedback you want to discuss with us, we are more than happy to hear it. Get in touch via our email (presidents@thesu.org.uk) or come into the office and say hello.
