Cost of Living Crisis message from your presidents

We have been acutely aware of the ongoing cost of living crisis, and the corresponding discussions and impact faced by students. The cost of living crisis is an emergency, and it needs to be treated as such.

Group of presidents sat together looking at the camera.

As your President team, we are working closely with the universities and FX Plus to ensure that your voices are heard in all discussions, and that appropriate action is taken to support students in these difficult times.

To support these conversations, we need your input and feedback. While we are keeping track of the number of students coming to us with financial concerns, we kindly ask that, if you are willing and able, to please share your experiences on how the cost of living crisis is impacting you. Your feedback will be kept anonymous but will be hugely beneficial in showing the significance of the crisis across the student community, and the many ways it is taking form.

As well as working with our partners, we are working internally with the SU team to consider what changes we can make to support your university experience. For example, making SU activities more financially accessible and introducing initiatives to support students in financial hardship.

If you would like to share your experiences, thoughts, and ideas on how your Students’ Union can help you, please get in touch with us by email: presidents@thesu.org.uk. In the meantime, we’ve outlined support is available through the institutions, welfare services, and our advice team on our cost of living crisis hub.

The cost of living crisis is at the forefront of our minds, and we will be doing what we can to support you through this difficult time.

Oll an gwella (all the best)
