Welcome to the FXU Postgraduate Student Community. We hope that the following information will help you have an enjoyable experience whilst you are studying in Falmouth/Penryn.

The postgraduate student body is a core part of our membership here at FXU, ranging from students studying on Masters programmes, both campus-based and online, to Research and PhD. Every postgraduate student at Falmouth University and the University of Exeter's Cornwall Campuses is automatically enrolled as a member of FXU, but we also provide an additional bespoke service in order enhance FXU's support throughout your student journey.

Postgraduate Research Students

 

PGR Officer – Exeter

The Postgraduate Research Officer is a part-time officer elected specifically to represent the needs of PhD and
MRes students. The Postgraduate Research Officer has responsibility for representing the opinions of research
students in Cornwall and fepresents Post Graduate Research students' views at FXU Leadership Team meetings.

This role is elected on an annual basis, with the election taking place in early May. Only Postgraduate research
students may apply to stand for this role.

PG Forums are relaxed forums in which postgraduate students can meet with their peers and the FXU to address issues that are of particular concern. PG Forums are open to all postgraduate students and the agenda will be flexible. It will naturally depend on issues raised by students. Here are the key points around PG Forums:
  • PG Forums will meet once a term.
  • All Exeter postgraduate students in Cornwall are invited to attend the forums.
  • Each Forum will be chaired by the Postgraduate Research & Taught Officers and minutes will be held by FXU but sent out to students upon request.

Research Student Development Programme (RSDP) offers research students support and ongoing training to enhance their studies and future careers as researchers. The Postgraduate RSDP will help you identify the appropriate research methods for your chosen subject, and help you plan and structure your project.
