Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a form of martial arts, where students are trained to take their opponent down and submit them via choke or joint manipulation. Submissions are applied to arms, shoulders, wrists, legs, ankles, and the throat (choke). The society will provide a low cost activity to reduce stress, for fitness purposes, self defense and also to meet new people.
A close community is formed around the sport where students can come and train leaving their egos and problems off the mats, where everyone is welcome and no judgment takes place. Jiu Jitsu is for everyone regardless of gender, body build or age.
Once a competitive team is formed, the club intends to represent the university at competitions and seek sponsorship.
