FXU Wild Doc Soc presents Sci-Fest, the first ever science communication festival on campus! Without the ability to communicate research, science falls short, so join us for a day of education, fun and experience on Wednesday the 24th May!
What can you expect from Sci-Fest?
Whoever you are, whether you enjoy watching nature documentaries, or are someone who makes their own documentaries, or even someone who researches the information that goes into documentaries, Sci-Fest has something for you! We will be showcasing cutting edge research, an exclusive film and an evening of inspiring guest speakers all in one day!
Sci-Talks: our own series of 6 20 minute talks from both Falmouth University and the University of Exeter academics along with outside experts, all with a running theme of the importance of science communication.
A Plastic Ocean: we have secured an exclusive licence to screen this award-winning documentary, which uncovers the shocking truth about the consequences of our addiction to single-use plastics and the ‘disposable’ lifestyle that is threatening not only the environment but human health. We are extremely lucky to have a statement from film producer Jo Ruxton, and in true Wild Doc Soc fashion we will be providing snacks!
Main Event: featuring the wonderful Lizzie Daly, George McGavin and Simon Watt! This is a classic Wild Doc Soc Stannary event with a twist and is not one to miss! Join us for an evening with experienced experts with some comedy thrown in!
Tickets are available now here! Non-students are very welcome; just call the FXU student union reception for tickets on 01326 255861.
