Important Info for Summer Ball Ticket Holders

FXU Summer Ball 2018

There’s a lot going on at the FXU Summer Ball, so have a read of some of the important information below before you go and make the most of your experience.

Getting to the Ball…

We have let the taxi firms and the bus company know that the Ball is on and the times it will be running, so there should be plenty of options for you to get to the Ball easily. We will be running a taxi rank on site at one of the car parks near the Ball entrance, so you will also be able to leave easily at the end.

Wristbands…

We will be placing your wristband on you when you pick it up. It needs to be tight enough so that it does not come off.

If it comes off by accident, or breaks, or becomes faulty we can exchange it – but only if you bring it back to us. If it comes off and you lose it we cannot replacement it. This includes during the event. Security may ask you to leave the event if you do not have a wristband on at any time.

On arrival…

The event is for over 18s only, so you may still be asked to prove your age at the door and at the bar. This is a necessary part of the licensing requirements. Please make sure you have some ID with you.

You will not be allowed to bring any food or drink into the event. There is free drinking water available throughout the event, and there are ‘budget’ food options from the food court for you.

There is a ‘zero tolerance’ policy to drug possession and use at the event. If you are found in possession or using drugs you will be escorted from the event and may be handed over to the police.

We reserve the right to refuse admission, or remove you from the event, if we believe you are not in a fit state to enter our event.

Security searches will be done at the door and all bags will be searched in detail. Please be patient whilst we make sure your event is safe.

Last entry to the event is 10pm.

Your vouchers…

On arrival, all guests will be given a drink voucher that they can exchange for a complimentary arrival drink. For Grad party guests, complimentary drinks will be served between 3pm and 4pm. For Summer Ball guests, complimentary drinks will be served between 6pm and 7pm.

Grad Party guests will be given an additional voucher that they can exchange for a further complimentary drink between 6pm and 7pm when other guests arrive.

All guests will also be given a voucher for the Fun Casino.

Cloakroom

There will be a cloakroom at the event for you can keep your bags and coats in. You might also want to think about bringing some ‘comfortable shoes’ in a bag for later. It’s a long event! Cloakroom charge will be £1.

Money…

There is no cashpoint facility within the boundary of the event so if you are relying on cash you will need to bring enough for the whole event. Bars and food areas will be taking card payments.

The shop on campus will also be shutting at 3pm on the day, so don’t rely on their services.

Please note, the Silent Disco in the gardens after the fireworks will need a £5 returnable deposit. Save a fiver for this great experience!

If you are a smoker…

It may be helpful to know that we will not be selling cigarettes at the event, but also be aware that the shop on campus will be shutting at 3pm on the day of the Ball.

Help and support at the event…

There are security staff and support staff across the event that will be able to help you with any issues. We also have onsite first aid and support from Student Services Living Support team if you feel you need help. Just ask, and we will do what we can.

Toilets...

There are toilets inside the Stannary and outside Tremough House.

Water...

We want you to enjoy the event and stay hydrated so we are happy for you to bring an empty water bottle into the event. If you have any liquid in the bottle at the entrance you will be asked to empty it before being allowed in. Drinking water will be easily available near the food court at all times. Jugs of water will be available on the bar for you to fill your glasses, but please bear with bar staff if these empty quickly. The water fountains by the food court will always be your best bet for easy access to water.

When are the main acts playing?...

The Hoosiers will be playing in the gardens at 4.15pm for the Grad party.

The main arena will start with the Scribes at 8pm. Shift K3y will be playing after the fireworks and the fabulous Wilkinson will be flying in from headlining a festival in Romania to headline the main arena at midnight.
