FXU Official Statement

Students and Colleagues:

It is with regret that we have to let you know that due to personal circumstances, and by mutual agreement, our incoming FXU President Exeter Sajjad Jabarkhel has had to step down from his position for next year. However, we are delighted to share that he has been offered a scholarship to study for a Masters degree within the Camborne School of Mines. This is a great opportunity for Sajjad and we wish him every success.

FXU and the University of Exeter would like to take this opportunity to thank Sajjad Jabarkhel for his huge contributions to FXU, for which we are extremely grateful.  Sajjad has been a valuable member of the Exeter and Penryn campus community and we are delighted that he will continue to have a presence with us. We are looking forward to working with him next year as he continues his studies.

Sajjad said, “I am extremely grateful for everyone from the University of Exeter and FXU who have helped me through this journey, and cannot thank you enough for all of your support during the past three years.”

This now means that FXU must hold a by-election in order that an FXU President Exeter is in place for the academic year 2018/19. We know the timings of this are not ideal but we must run this election now, before the end of the current term on 15th June 2018. We are committed to ensuring a full and functioning FXU Presidential Team for the Penryn campus community ready for the new academic year.

We will be opening nominations for the by-election on Friday 25 May at 12 noon and will close at 12 noon on Friday 1 June 2018. Voting will be open from 12 noon on Monday 4 June to 12 noon on Friday 8 June. We will announce the results late afternoon on Friday 8 June.

FXU and its Trustees appreciate the patience and participation of the student community with the by-election process. Please watch out for this important communication. If you have any questions about the process for the by-election, please email elections@fxu.org.uk
