Want to join the new Student Community Warden scheme?
The pilot launch will see three pairs of wardens employed to patrol some of the most heavily populated student residential areas of Falmouth, with a particular focus on the Smithick Ward. It will demonstrate a more visual and collaborative approach to promote and support students as active citizens within the community. The Student Community Warden Scheme will continue to encourage positive relationships between student residents and other local residents, as well as assist the Town Council and other partners to improve the local environment and behaviour in residential areas.
The Wardens will meet with residents, offering support and advice on everything from bin days to housing problems and noisy neighbours. They will also support signposting to appropriate services, making sure residents have all the information they need to report and deal with any issues. The times in which the Wardens work will vary to ensure they reach different residents, but will generally be three two to three hour shifts a week, between 9am and 5pm.
Students will be paid £8.75/hour, 7-10 hours a week (20-22 weeks a year, term time only).
