Race2Amsterdam is FXU RAD's newest event that you guys have voted for in place of our annual Jailbreak event for this year!!
Race2Amsterdam is taking place on the 1st April - 3rd April 2018; Set off from campus on April Fool's Day (this event isn't a joke though) in teams of 3 and race each other to Amsterdam, Netherlands in the quickest time whilst completing challenges! You'll also be raising money for our charity of the year, Alzheimer's Society, by participating in the event!!

You’ll also get accommodation for TWO NIGHTS (*dependent on when you arrive in Amsterdam!!) as well as a NIGHT OUT in the city of Amsterdam upon arrival and at the same time you’ll raise money and awareness for charity with your teams.'
*If you want to take part in the event, make sure you have attended one of the talks or found out the ‘in's and out's’ at the FXU office before you sign up as they will fill you in on all the need to know info and sneaky hints.*
This year the event will be in partnership with our charity of the year Alzheimers Society who we are hoping to raise over £2,250 for with this event alone. This is a great charity which many of our students can relate to, so we hope that you will enjoy fundraising for them as much as we do.
Teams of three (mixed gender) will each have a fundraising total of £75 per person (not including entry admin fee) in the run up to the event and can also fundraise for the cause on-route.
The event has limited team spaces and you can purchase a 'Team Ticket' for your group (£150 total).
What is included in the £50 admin fee per person?
- Basic travel insurance to cover you for 3 days from the start of the event.
- 2 nights accomodation in Amsterdam
- Night out in Amsterdam
- Fundraising merchandise, t-shirt, fundraising pots, flyers etc.
- Race2 Tracking system to help make things safer on-route.
- Lovely high visibility jacket.
- A round the clock team of HQ volunteers.
What’s NOT included in the admin fee?
- Return travel (Make allowances for the cost of return travel)
- Food on-route
- Additional travel insurance if you wish to stay longer or do any crazy sports that aren't included in our policy if you chose to stay on for a jolly holiday.
- Passport Renewal (if required)
- Destination VISA's so please factor this into your plan

ABOUT THE EVENT
FXU RAD is hosting Race2Amsterdam. The primary aim of this race is to get your team to Amsterdam in the fastest time without using money to travel. The secondary aim is raise A LOT of money for charity! This year we will be supporting our charity of the year, Alzheimer's Society
The event will take place from Sunday 1st April, 9am and will run for until 3rd April. All of your team must be available to start from 9am on the Sunday.
You must take part as team of 3, teams MUST be mixed gender and you must have a team ready before you purchase your team ticket.
Each team member must contribute £50 to the £150 administration fee (team ticket).
COST AND ADMIN FEE
Each team member must pay a £50 administration fee (total £150 team ticket), and each team member has an individual fundraising target of £75 to Alzheimer's Society. By signing up you agree to fundraise the £75 for the charity. In special circumstances, if you are struggling to meet your target you can contact the RAD Committee before the event date and an extension may be given with significant evidence.
*Once you have purchased your ticket, you will have a cooling off period four days from the time of ticket purchase in which you can redeem 50% of the admin fee cost, after this time admin fees are non-refundable. You can find a team to take your place, but fees cannot be fully returned. Any admin fees left over will be used to support RAD’s future charity events.
This admin fee will cover the accomodation and safety pack, basic travel insurance (you must have an additional E111 to take part), tracking system and team operational cost/ HQ Volunteer support team.
Additional personal expenses to be considered may include:
• Food on route
• Return travel (if a return ticket is not negotiated)
• Destination visas and personal equipment and insurance
• Additional travel insurance if you wish to stay in your destination longer than 5 days.
• Additional insurance to cover any pre-existing health conditions which are not covered by our basic insurance.
• Passport renewal (if applicable)
We have set up a basic level of travel insurance to cover the named participants during this event. The insurance cover is being provided by Ensdleigh. The cover will last for three days after the event start date. If you would like to read the policy in detail before registering please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get this over to you. If you wish to stay on in your final location you will need to get additional travel insurance. If you are going to undertake additional activities not listed on the policy you will need to get additional cover.
Medical Considerations (if you are affected by any of these, please consult the FXU Community Partnerhsips Manager before signing up 01326 253631 or email@example.com )
A) At the time of taking out this policy:
i) Any Medical Condition for which You have been prescribed medication or for which You have received, or are waiting to receive, treatment (including surgery, tests or investigations) within the last 2 years.
ii) Any Medical Condition for which You have received a terminal prognosis.
iii) Any Medical Condition You are aware of but for which You have not had a diagnosis.
iv) Any Medical Condition for which You are on a waiting list for or have knowledge of the need for surgery, treatment or investigation at a hospital, clinic or nursing home.
v) Any Medical Condition affecting You or a Close Relative or a Close Business Associate that could reasonably be expected to give rise to a claim on this policy.
If you have medical conditions that are shown in the table of automatically included conditions at the foot of this page then they will be covered under this policy.
B) At any time:
i) Any Medical Condition You have in respect of which a Medical Practitioner has advised You not to travel (or would have done so had you sought his/her advice) but despite this you still travel.
ii) Any surgery, treatment or investigations for which You intend to travel outside Your Home Area to receive (including any expenses incurred due to the discovery of other Medical Conditions during, and/or complications arising from, these procedures.
iii) Any Medical Condition for which You are not taking the recommended treatment or prescribed medication as directed by a Medical Practitioner.
iv) You travel against any health requirements stipulated by the carrier, their handling agents or other Public Transport provider.
AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDED CONDITIONS
Acid reflux, Gout, Acne, Hayfever, Allergy (requiring non-prescriptive treatment only), Hysterectomy (provided carried out more than 6 months ago), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Broken bones (except back and skull), Menopause, Cataracts, Migraine, Colds or influenza, Psoriasis, Dyspepsia, Tonsillitis, Eczema, Underactive thyroid, Varicose veins
If you have any concerns about a pre-existing health condition that may not be covered by the policy please do let a member of the team know and we will help you as best as we can and advise you how to proceed. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are taking part, you must have considered getting back after the event, as YOU are responsible for getting yourself back from your final location. Please consider the potential cost of this before you sign up. We suggest, if you are offered a return ticket at any point, take it.
