Freshers Advertising Opportunities

September 2012 will see 2,000 new students in Falmouth beginning their studies with either University of Exeter or University College Falmouth. Almost all will be living and working in Falmouth, Penryn and the surrounding area.
This is your opportunity to introduce your products and services to a fresh student market!
In the following pages you will find all the information you need to promote your brand to the student population.
If you need any help just contact us and we will be happy to talk you through the alternatives and help you chose the right media for you and your budget. We can also offer exclusivity deals so if this is important to you don’t hang around and get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Handbook

An A5 Handbook will be given to all 2,000 first year students. Containing everything you need to know about FXU, what we do and life in Falmouth & Penryn. It truly will be an essential, one stop guide, for all of our incoming Freshers. We are offering full and half page adverts (pricing is detailed on page 2) within the handbook and a prime spot on the back cover. This will be a smart and professional publication, and will be something the students will hold onto, not just for their first year, but throughout their University experience here in Cornwall. All adverts will be allocated to pages on a first-come-first served basis.

Welcome Pack
A welcome pack is distributed to all 2,000 first year students. It’s a reusable cotton shopper containing the FXU Handbook along with commercial product samples, freebies and information from local businesses. (You’ve probably seen students with the bags around Falmouth & Penryn as they are used all year round!) An advert on the bag costs from just £100 or you could choose to supply a leaflet, flyer, voucher or discount coupon – we make a charge for packing the item in the bag (£50 - £100) but we will pack any samples or ‘goodies’ received free of charge.

Wallplanner

Be advertised in every new student's room! Another great opportunity for companies who want to get involved in Fresher’s. The Wall planner is an A1 open planned calendar, showing events throughout the year and an essential reference tool for all 2,000 first year students throughout the year. Small adverts frame the wall planner and work really well for quick contacts (taxi’s, fast food, hair dressers or bowling) as they are up on each students wall all year round.

Freshers Fayre

On Sunday 30th September 12-4pm (set up from 10am) we will be holding our 8th Annual Freshers’ Fayre. This is an excellent opportunity to communicate directly with students and takes the form of a market with stalls for each attending company. A table (or tables) is provided and additional requirements such as wi-fi and electricity will be accommodated where possible. The event has grown over the last few years and last year we dedicated the entire lower Stannary to visiting local businesses. Over 75 clubs and societies which will also be taking part in the Freshers’ Fayre will, like last year, be sited on the upper floor of the Stannary. This event is fun and interactive, and always has an overwhelming turnout.
Please note: No plastic bags are allowed. Stall holders are not permitted to sell or give away alcoholic drinks or samples.

Website
Placing an advert on our website is a fantastic way to promote yourself, your events or your products to our 5,000+ students – as well as our staff and the general public worldwide including prospective students. Our website links to the University College Falmouth and University of Exeter websites. Banner adverts – at the top of the webpage are £117.50 per month. Lozenge adverts – in the bottom left of the webpage are £98.00 per month.
