There will be a new purpose built Nursery at the Penryn Campus for the benefit of students, staff and the local community by September 2016.
Following comprehensive research and consultation with students, staff and other parents/carers in the Falmouth and Penryn area, the Falmouth Exeter Plus (FX Plus) Board agreed with the recommendation of the Childcare Review Steering Group at its January meeting that the most effective way of meeting future demand for childcare, is to build a new 54-place setting at the Penryn Campus and retain the Woodlane Day Nursery in Falmouth.
The new Nursery will be 300 sqm in area and designed to cater for 54 children, between 0-5 years in three age group rooms, each with outdoor play and learning areas.
The FX Plus Estates team will be working with preferred construction contractor Midas, to submit the planning application in addition to a new highly sustainable Sports Centre on Campus. Located beside the new Sports Centre to the south of the Design Centre it will be convenient for drop offs and collections and also close to bus stops.
This new childcare provision also boosts the Athena Swan gender equality agenda; supporting early career researchers through the provision of childcare facilities on Campus.
FX Plus will operate this new Nursery facility alongside the Falmouth Woodlane Nursery.
Parents/ carers who are interested in putting their child on a waiting list can contact Amanda Cooke, Day Nursery Manager at nursery@fxplus.ac.uk, or visit the FX Plus website.
