Being an NUS Delegate involves representing the views of FXU students on a national level. Delegates from across the UK attend the NUS Conferences to decide the political direction of NUS and elect the NUS leadership for the year ahead.

The NUS (National Union of Students) will be holding conferences over the next few months and we are looking for you to represent us at them! You can see more information about the NUS and FXU here.

 

What do NUS Delegates do?

Being an NUS Delegate involves representing the views of FXU students on a national level. Delegates from across the UK attend the NUS Conferences to decide the political direction of NUS and elect the NUS leadership for the year ahead. .

 

When are the conferences?

NUS Sections Conference:  10, 11 & 12 March 2016 (International, Post Graduate and Part Time and Mature Students)

NUS LGBT Conference: 15, 16 & 17 March 2016

NUS Disabled Students’ Conference: 22, 23 & 24 March 2016

NUS Women’s Conference: 5, 6 & 7 April 2016

NUS National Conference: 19, 20, 21 April 2016 in Brighton

NUS Black Students’ Conference:  28 & 29 May 2016

 

What is NUS National Conference?

The National Conference is the sovereign body of NUS and takes place every year in the Spring. At the conference, delegates pass national policies on everything from the quality of Higher Education to the welfare of students.

Delegates debate and vote for motions to become national policy for NUS. Student Unions submit these motions based on student opinion. Policies become areas of work for NUS Officers for at least 3 years.

 

What is the difference between the National Conference and the other conferences?

Liberation group and the sections conferences will vote on policy particularly important to people from those groups of students.

 

Are you interested?

FXU will cover all costs including travel, accommodation & food allowance

Students who attend conferences will be expected to submit a summary news story for the FXU website & Student Council (No more than 1 side of A4 + photo)

The number of delegates & observers sent to NUS conferences will be decided by FXU Senior Management Team (SMT) in line with budget plans
