About the event

The month of May will be filled with a great variety of events to celebrate Pride, organised by Alex Kay, LGBTQ+ Officer, Cam Harrington, Non-Binary Officer, Alexa Webster, President Community and Welfare and Alice Nicholls, Widening Student Participation Assistant.

This week is for all those who are LGBPTQIA+ so please get involved, as you are welcome to all! And want to do your own event? Let us know!

All events are free to attend.

 

2nd May - Pride Exhibition

A week long exhibition in The Compass to display artwork from students and staff with their take on Pride.

 

4th May - Quiz Night

A Queer themed Quiz Night in the Upper Stannary at 9pm, hosted by FXU President Student Experience, Amanda and FXU Exeter President, Grace.

 

5th May - LGBTQ+ Society Night Out

A night out hosted by the LGBTQ+ Society - Meet at 8:30pm in the Upper Stannary.

 

6th May - T101 Workhop

Cam Harrington, Non-binary Officer, will be giving their perspective on improving awareness of Trans issues and sensitivity. 5-6pm in Exchange Lecture Theatre.

 

6th May - Tangerine Film Showing

A comedy-drama following the story of a transgender sex worker who discovers her boyfriend and pimp has been cheating on her. 6-9pm in Exchange Lecture Theatre.

 

11th May - T101 Workshop

Cam Harrington, Non-binary Officer, will be giving their perspective on improving awareness of Trans issues and sensitivity. 4-5pm in Peter Lanyon Seminar 2.

 

11th May - Conversation about Faith and Sexuality

A joint event hosted by Becky Barber from the Chaplaincy and Reverend Steve Smith from Mabe Parish. 6-7:30pm Peter Lanyon Staff Room

 

13th May - 'Gayke' Sale

A gayke sale, happening 11am-3pm in the Foyer between Fox Cafe and the shop at Falmouth Campus, where a variety of fabulous baked goods celebrating Pride Month will be sold. All of the profits will be donated towards the Stonewall charity.

 

13th May - Hanna Toms: Being part of the LGBT Community and Politics

The only LGBTQ+ Councillor and politician in Cornwall, Hanna Toms, delivering a talk about being gay in politics. 3:15-4:15pm in Exchange Green

 

13th May - Milk Film Showing

Sean Penn stars in this critically acclaimed biopic of senator Harvey Milk, the first out gay public official. 6-9pm in Exchange Lecture Theatre .

 

18th May - T101

Cam Harrington, Non-binary Officer, will be giving their perspective on improving awareness of Trans issues and sensitivity. 4-5pm in Exchange Green.

 

20th May - Pride Picnic

BYOP – Bring Your Own Picnic!

A fun event in the Italian Gardens where all our welcome. Not only are we celebrating Pride Month but also welcoming in the new Liberation Committee as well as saying goodbye to the amazing officers we have had this year. Bring your friends, food, drink and blankets! All are welcome, and it should be a fun afternoon for all.

Dress code is come as you are most confident – so be your own beautiful self, in any way that is!

2pm until 5pm in the Italian Gardens.

 

20th May – ‘Queer Cinema’ with Verena Von Eicken

Not many people know the extensive history of Queer Cinema, from Pink Flamingos to Brokeback Mountain, it has been a cultural revolution. Join Verena Von Eicken as she discusses the significance of this well established cinema. 11am-12pm in Exchange Lecture Theatre

 

20th May - Flamingos Film Showing

John Walters, directs drag queen Divine in this outrageous comedy. 6-9pm in The Cinema.

 

21st May - Quidditch

As a sport that actively states it is inclusive of people of all sexualities, sporting backgrounds and event states in the rulebook that it acknowledges and accepts those "who don't identify within the binary gender-system", Quidditch is being seen as the most inclusive sport there is. Join the Quidditch Team for a FREE training session at the Dracaena Centre in Falmouth at 10:30am.
