Wanted – Volunteer Photographer for Plymouth “RESPECT” festival. One Day 26th October –full recognition for photos, lunch provided and travel expenses paid.

Plymouth Improving Reach is a charity organisation looking  for volunteer photography students from third or second year photography degree to take attractive images when we launch our project at the Respect Festival Plymouth on 26th of October. 

 

The Plymouth Respect Festival is an annual celebration of Plymouth’s multiculture, fusing colours, music, vibrancy, performance, arts and information. It is taking place on October 25th and 26th 2008, and it is one of the largest of these festivals in the UK - with an estimated 25,000 visitors!

Needed: Volunteer Community Arts Workers/ Practitioners!

Are you interested in running COMMUNITY ARTS WORKSHOPS for the elderly?   

FXU Community Action and Age Concern are interested in running a pilot project of 4 student-led creative workshops (in whatever creative field you like), on Tuesday afternoons at the Falmouth Age Concern Centre (nr Woodlane).  Any students interested in running, devising or simply helping on such workshops, please get in touch with me (jill) as soon as possible and I will arrange a meeting!

NEWLYN ART GALLERY & THE EXCHANGE, PENZANCE:

Calling all students interested in gaining hands-on experience at two major public contemporary galleries!

  

  • Newlyn Art Gallery re-launched in July 2007 after the substantial expansion and refurbishment of its existing home in Newlyn and the development of a major new art space in Penzance, The Exchange.
  • Showcasing the very best of national and international contemporary art – including that produced locally – the new gallery facilities have enabled us to present work never before shown in the region.
  • As a charity, volunteers will play an integral role in the visitor experience. We are currently recruiting volunteers to perform the important front of house and invigilation tasks facing our gallery spaces.
  • There are also opportunities to get involved with our education programme, exhibitions, marketing and administration.
  • Volunteering at Newlyn Art Gallery and The Exchange offers the opportunity to be a part of one of the region’s leading galleries, to work alongside international artists, gain hands-on gallery experience and meet people in the arts.

Arts for Health Cornwall

The charity Arts for Health Cornwall and IoS are seeking enthusiastic, caring volunteers to assist with their Older Persons Creativity Project. This is a countywide project, based in several Residential Care Homes and Community Hospitals, including Falmouth, Redruth / Camborne Community Hospitals and Care homes in Truro, Tregony, Coverack, Hayle etc.

 

Teams consisting of an experienced artistic practitioner, a member of staff and a volunteer will work together in each of the settings to deliver a programme of creativity for the older clients. The projects range from music and movement, singing, painting, to arts and craft based activities. The purpose of the projects is to improve the health and well being of the older residents through creativity.

The Practitioner will work closely with the volunteer and staff throughout the initial 3 month period to develop the teams' skills, confidence and knowledge to support the delivery of creativity in both the short and long terms. 

 

Ongoing personal development, support and networking opportunities will be available. Travel expenses will be paid.
