CORNISH MARINE LIFE RESCUE VOLUNTEER TRAINIING: Free one-day course for student volunteers! - Saturday 25 October

WATCH THIS SPACE FOR ANOTHER DATE  EARLY NEXT YEAR...

The Silver Dolphin Centre, Porthleven, worked with local marine mammal medics to set up Cornish Marine Life Rescue.

The centre runs this one day workshop to provide training for local volunteers. The morning session is classroom based and the afternoon is a practical session on cetacean rescue.
Morning Session:
A look at the anatomy and biology of cetaceans.  An introduction into the different species found around the Cornish coast and their identification. The action that needs to be taken when caring for live strandings.
Afternoon Session:
The afternoon session will consist of a practical demonstration of care and refloatation of a stranded cetacean.

By the end of the day you will have an understanding of cetaceans around the southwest coast of England, the problems they face when they strand and how we can help.

Please email me - communityaction@fxu.org.uk or call me on 01326 253631 or pop in to the FXU office to put your name down if you are interested.  There is no charge for this course and transport will be provided by the FXU.  A great opportunity!

CATS PROTECTION volunteers needed at Falmouth and Helston branches:

Cats protection provides  temporary accomodation and care for unwanted and abandoned cats until new homes are found.  We also offer information and advice about reponsible cat ownership and the benefits of neutering.

Our branches are groups of volunteers who give their time and skills on a regular basis.  They work as a team to achieve all of the above locally.

We need enthusiastic volunteers to help at our Falmouth, Helston and District Branch: - welfare officer - fundraising officer etc.
