RAG
Community Action RAG is the charity fundraising arm of the FXU. RAG stands for Raising and Giving and that’s exactly what we do; we raise money and give it to local, national and international charities. RAG events can be all sorts of things including; RAG Raids (street collections), sponsored events, raffles and quizzes, theme nights, cake sales, jumbles etc etc. Here in the FXU we are open to hearing about any form of charity fundraising that students can dream up, however simple or weird. Click HERE to see the latest RAG events and to sign up.
FXU Community Action Charity of the month
Jill and Sally, in the FXU Community Action office, coordinate various events and raids each term as well as helping to organise the FXU Community Action Charity of the Month. Each month that students are on campus, we invite a charity to promote themselves, raise some money and get students involved in their work. We also try and organise a RAG raid and a sponsored something for the chosen charity. This month our chosen charity is: Surfers Against Sewage (SAS). Click HERE to go to our Charity of the Month Page.
We are mainly here to help any of you students with your own charity fundraising plans. Events can be for any registered charity and could involve anything from skydiving or firewalking to sponsored knitting or bingo. Pop into the Community Action office to discuss your ideas or get some inspiration. All charity fundraising that takes place within the FXU must be approved by Community Action RAG. This is a legal requirement because FXU is a charity (see our Guidelines doc. for information about this). For this reason you need to fill out a RAG application form and hand it in to the Community Action office (or FXU receptions).
Join the RAG team
Because our RAG department is NEW, we are going to need to help set up a RAG Committee (students only) and would love to hear from you if you’d like to get involved. Please get in touch via communityaction@fxu.org.uk or come and tell us. If you want to run for a committee position or help organise events or just join in, let us know.
