FXU holds at least one General Meeting per term. These meetings are a great opportunity to get together as students and have a collective voice to really make things better for students' university experience whether it's mandating the Students' Union to do something or raising important issues.
All current students of University College Falmouth and University of Exeter Cornwall Campus are FXU members, unless they have opted out.
All FXU members can attend, speak and vote in FXU General Meetings. As FXU is a membership led organisation, members can put forward ideas, motion policies, debate and vote in an FXU General Meeting. If the vote favours the idea or motion, then it becomes FXU policy and FXU is therefore mandated to act on it.
UGMs and AGMs
One of the general meetings held in the year is the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Other FXU general meetings are called Union General Meetings (UGMs).
UGMs allow for more flexibility in issues to be discussed and so could include an invited panel of university senior managers for a question time or it could be dedicated to one major issue, or a number of issues may be covered.
AGMs also allow particular issues to be raised, but require specific things to be included such as presenting the yearly financial accounts, a report from the FXU Trustees on FXU's activities since the last AGM and open questions to the FXU Trustees by members.
