The Advice Service is available to all students from both the University of Exeter and University College Falmouth incorporating Dartington College of Arts. We provide an advisory service that responds to individual student need whilst also informing, supporting and encouraging the Universities to respond strategically to student welfare.
• To provide free, confidential and independent information/advice to all registered student members of the University of Exeter and University College Falmouth incorporating Dartington College of Arts on the full range of welfare- related issues and services.
• To work towards the provision of a full and complementary range of advice and welfare services within the Universities community, and to ensure that the whole student body is aware of the existence of those services.
• To ensure that access to the range of services is available at both Tremough and Woodlane campuses.
Who may use our service?
Students: all full and part-time registered students (including intermitting sudents).
Ex-students: students who have left either University may be assisted in certain circumstances on issues relating to their time at University. This may include housing matters such as deposit return, or academic matters including appeals and complaints. Assistance is usually limited to a period of up to 3 months after the student has left the University. If we are unable to help, we will signpost you to another appropriate agency.

The Service has three main aims:
Prospective students: advice and information on student funding, facilities and services available at the University.
We are supported by The National Association of Citizen Advice Bureaux (CAB), NHAS (Shelter) and the National Association of Student Money Advisers (NASMA). These organisations provide us with updated information that enables the Advice Unit to give correct information at all times. We are an FXU service and have a very good working relationship with both University services but, importantly, we remain independent. We also have strong links with local and national agencies, so in the event that we cannot help, we can usually find someone who can.
The Advice Service is a confidential service and nothing you tell us will be revealed to anyone outside the Advice Service without your express permission. We will always try to obtain your signed authority before contacting other agencies and will make sure that we have permission to contact you or leave messages by phone or email. A copy of our confidentiality policy is available on request.
The Advice Service will do its best to assist all users. However we recognise there may be times when you are not happy with the service. If you wish to complain we have an established procedure.
A few weeks after your appointment, provided you have given us permission, we will contact you by email for feedback on the service you received. All information we receive from you helps us to develop the service so that we can ensure we continue to provide a service that the students of UECC and UCF want.
Don't forget - we are here to help you!
Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in these advice pages. However, they cannot be regarded as a substitute for statutory regulations, or individual advice which is available from FXU Advisers.
