The Advice Service can offer information and advice on student loans, bursaries, grants, tuition fees, welfare benefits, income tax, council tax, financial hardship, debt problems, and budgeting. We can also check that you are getting all the statutory and institutional funding you are entitled to.
For some it will be a shock having to manage their money themselves for the first time. No-one wants to have the stress of not being able to afford their course books etc., nor that all important trip to the pub with your friends. At the start of the academic year work out how much you have to spend each week. It is a good way of keeping your finances under control, and also show you whether you need to boost your income to cover your costs.
