TERM TIME
VACATIONS
It is important that you turn up on time as lateness can have a knock-on effect on other students coming in after you. We may also need you to provisionally complete application forms, if, for example, you are seeking advice about an application to the Access to Learning Fund. You may need to bring appropriate documents with you, e.g. bank statements, housing contracts, letters/emails about academic issues etc. This will enable us to help you to use the appointment time most effectively. If you need to cancel an appointment please contact us with as much notice as possible. Appointments are in high demand and if we can offer the time to another student we will.

Students who fail to keep appointments deprive other students of the opportunity to see an advisor. We therefore operate a strict policy whereby, if you fail to keep three appointments in any academic year, we will not offer you a further appointment within that time period. This is to ensure the availability of our service to as many students as possible.
In some cases, the issues may be quite complex and the advisor may feel you need a follow-up appointment. Again, if you are required to do something in the meantime, eg draft statements, timelines or records of repair issues, please do this, so time is not wasted in the next appointment.
We hope, by using the appointment system to its maximum effect, we can provide information and advice to as many students as need it, empower you to resolve the situation and target assistance to those students who may need more support.
Don't forget - we are here to help you!
