Aikido Club

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that focuses on self defence and teaches you how to control a situation by harmonizing yourself with an attacker's movement and mind. It was created by the great Japanese master Morihei Ueshiba in the early twentieth century and is now practised by many thousands of people all around the globe. It's an art that is often beautiful to watch but also extremely effective against both armed and unarmed attackers. Since it doesn't require strength anyone can master it, although you should be reasonably fit and agile.

Tom Pierce, 5th Dan, and Jamie Matthews, 2nd Dan, have set up a new club at Mabe CP School, Cunningham Park, Mabe, TR10 9HB. Practice is on Thursdays, from 7 - 9 pm. Its open to all adults aged 16 and over and is part of the Shin-Gi-Tai Aikido Society and the British Aikido Board. You can contact us at kokorokaidojo@gmail.com or call Tom on 07428 687501 or Jamie on 07720 288172. Facebook: kokoro kaiaikido dojo

Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art that operates on the principle of non-resistance. It is a gentle but powerful discipline which develops mind and body co-ordination both for self defence and for daily living. It can help build greater self confidence, improve fitness and reduce stress.

The Falmouth-Penryn Aikido Club is led by instructor Neil McLeod, 2nd Dan, and is affiliated to NAKMAS National Governing Body..

The lessons (for over 16 years) are at Penryn College, Poltisko Road, on Wednesday evenings, 7 - 9 pm. Beginners are always welcome.

Aikido

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that is performed by blending with the motion of the attacker and redirecting the force of the attack rather than opposing it head-on, for this reason Aikido is suitable for all regardless of size, sex or age.

Practice in Aikido consists of weapons training, empty handed techniques, such as joint locks and throws, and working with multiple attackers Training is vigorous, but non-competitive, as you work in partnership with other students.

Classes are held on Mondays 7-9pm at The Carrick Sports and Recreational Centre, Stokes Road, Truro, TR1 3TW
