Cornwall Athletic Club was established on 1 January 1984, as a result of the amalgamation of two long established clubs, Duchy of Cornwall Athletic Club and West Cornwall Athletic Club and now has over 400 members.

The Club meets at the Carn Brea Leisure Centre, Pool, Redruth and the main training evening is Tuesday, beginning at 7pm for seniors, with 3 different ability groups, following a varied weekly schedule of speed work. Non club members are very welcome! Training takes place throughout the year as the track has flood lights. (£2.50 non members, £2.00 members/per week)
On Thursday evenings at 7pm there is a club social run of between 4-7 miles. This begins at the leisure centre during the winter months and at other scenic locations across the county throughout the summer. Contact Emma on 07717 377581 for details. Non members welcome- no fee!

Cornwall Athletic Club offers the full range of Track and Field events, under the supervision of over 30 qualified coaches. There is also a strong Road Running section, competing in the Cornwall Grand Prix series (15 races, from 4 miles to full marathons) and in the winter Cross Country is also popular.

In 2011 Cornwall AC was voted Cornwall Sports Partnerships’ Adult Club of the Year and England Athletics’ South West Development Club of the Year.

 Newquay and Par Athletics Club

Newquay & Par Athletic Club was formed in 1984 by an amalgamation of two existing clubs, Newquay AC & Par AC.  The club boasts an impressive record of success, including have club athlete Jemma Simpson represent Great Britain at the 2007 World Athletics Championship, 2008 Olympics, and the 2009 World Championship.  Also in 2009 Chris McQuillen Wright represented GB Masters in the 3000m. 

Par has an all weather synthetic 6 lane track, including 2 long/triple jump beds & runways, high jump & pole vault areas, 2 javelin runways, shot circle and a competition standard cage for discus & hammer throwing.  Newquay offers training facilities for most disciplines at Newquay Tretherras School.  We are signed up to the Club Mark Scheme and take our responsibilites for child safety very seriously.
