► Environment and Ethics

Meet Finn Raven - our FXU Student Exec Officer for Environement and Ethics - who is leading the way on green and ethical issues this year...

Hi I'm Finn - your Environment and Ethics Officer for this year.

I've got a lot to do so I'm aiming to start small - before taking over the world...

What have I been up to?
So far I have been working hard on getting the allotments up and running, have run three induction/planting sessions, found plants and seeds, gathered donated tools and am putting in a bid in the hope that we can improve our allotments even more!
I have been meeting green staff and students around Falmouth and Exeter.
I'm working on getting conservation of biodiversity included in the new campus developments.
I'm working on a couple of little plans so we can compost our vegetable waste from Halls (stopping it going to landfill and conserving soil) and save more energy...

Get in touch with me if you have suggestions, want to get involved and to take action for change! fr217@exeter.ac.uk

More on its way soon - meanwhile...

Falmouth LETS
What is it? You have skills, abilities, can help out with stuff so you sign up to offer these skills to others - you are paid with symbolic currency which you can then use to buy the help/skills/ability of other people listed in the scheme... I trade gardening for massage... You pay a small fee to register and add your offers and wants - and then you contact others to get started!

Falmouth Freecycle
Don't dump your unwanted stuff - put it on Freecycle! No fee to join, sign up with hte group and post what you have to offer (furniture, tools, TVs, whatever) and, what you want. A good way to get rid of unwanted stuff at the end of term and a good source of furniture while you're on a tight budget. I gave a away a fridge and got a large shed for my allotment this year! Keeps stuff out of Landfill, saves money and stops us consuming more of what we don't need!
