Age Concern Centre, Falmouth
We are looking for enthusiastic and friendly students who can offer just a couple of hours of their time every week or fortnight - to visit the lovely old people at the Age Concern day centre (nr Woodlane Campus). You can just visit and chat, or read stories and poems, or do creative workshop activites, or (within reason) whatever you think would be fun. No big comittment required - just let me know if you are interested. contact Sally at communityaction@fxu.org.uk
* There is a big fxu community action box of 'things to do' at the centre, so if you need ideas, it's worth a look in there.
Befriending Scheme - Age Concern Falmouth - Visit an elderly person for one hour a week and change their life.
There are many older people in Falmouth and the surrounding areas who are friendless, housebound or feel cut off from the world. A Befriending Service has been set up by Falmouth Age Concern to recruit volunteers, of any age, who can spare an hour or so each week to visit, talk to (and listen to) a lonely person.
If you think you could spare a little of your time to make a huge difference, then please contact Deborah on 01326 313620.
For a volunteer application form and information leaflet, please pop into the FXU and ask for Sally (she has some forms).
