Cornwall Design Season 2011 - 19th Feb - 25th April 2011
a festival of maverick thinking, making and doing. It will take the form of a multi-sited, countywide exhibition of great Cornish influenced ‘design’ that has been nominated by leading thinkers from across the UK and beyond including Rick Stein and Kevin McCloud. Local writers, designers, illustrators and artists have been appointed to bring these amazing 'stories' to life. Some of these stories will form a global online exhibition and others will be displayed in design pods (beautifully skinned shipping containers) at fifteen expected and unexpected locations across Cornwall (these are listed on the application form)
We are now looking for a team of enthusiastic Volunteer Exhibition Assistants to man the exhibitions between 19 February and 25 April 2011. Contact Sally communityaction@fxu.org.uk for more info and role description.

Arts for Health Cornwall
The charity Arts for Health Cornwall and IoS are seeking enthusiastic, caring volunteers to assist with their Older Persons Creativity Project. This is a countywide project, based in several Residential Care Homes and Community Hospitals, including Falmouth, Redruth / Camborne Community Hospitals and Care homes in Truro, Tregony, Coverack, Hayle etc.
 
Teams consisting of an experienced artistic practitioner, a member of staff and a volunteer will work together in each of the settings to deliver a programme of creativity for the older clients. The projects range from music and movement, singing, painting, to arts and craft based activities. The purpose of the projects is to improve the health and well being of the older residents through creativity.
The Practitioner will work closely with the volunteer and staff throughout the initial 3 month period to develop the teams' skills, confidence and knowledge to support the delivery of creativity in both the short and long terms. 
 
Ongoing personal development, support and networking opportunities will be available. Travel expenses will be paid.

The Human Writes Award - Centre for Human Rights
 
Are you passionate about Human Rights?
Confident and outgoing?
Are you creative and a team player?
 
Then you’re what we’re looking for. The newly-formed Centre for Human Rights (CHR) is looking for volunteers to help fundamentally change how people think about their rights in the South West. These volunteers would be promoting and fundraising for an exciting student-led project, “The Human Writes Award. It’s a script writing competition with the focus of all entries being on issues of fundamental rights.
Your role as part of this project would include:
·         Short and long-term fundraising (from coming up with the ideas to making them a reality)
·         Liaising with applicants to arrange advice on points of law
·         Project Branding
·         General publicity
·         As well as canvassing local and national media for coverage of the event
This is a great opportunity for you to gain and develop a whole host of skills be they: communication, entrepreneurialpresentation or teamwork; this role encompasses them all. And it’s also a rare chance to work with a rapidly growing student-driven organisation which has lot of future openings for those of you who can show the initiative and commitment.
