Sexual Health Awareness and Guidance (SHAG) week
March 2010

SHAG week is basically all about sex… Good sex, bad sex, lots of sex, no sex, same sex, mixed sex, sexual diseases and other sexual consequences (babies) etc etc, and we would also like to throw some other twists into the mix including information on Computer virus software, mental health awareness, rape awareness, drink spiking awareness and any others we can think of ...

This was a very open-minded week of events, with the aim of sharing information around the subject of sex, so that students can make their own informed choices.

· Give the drink to bar staff/ security – they may be able to collect fingerprints and test for chemicals
· Contact the police and give them a description of any people who were acting strange around your drinks. Call 08452777444
· You can give a urine sample within 12 hours
· you should book into your GP to give a blood sample within 72 hours.

SSHH week

FXU hosted SSHH week - SILENT STUDENT HAPPY HOMES

No, we’re not boring people! We’re raising awareness of troubles in the local community to you.

We get complaints about drunken student noise, and we, as FXU respect the community. Hopefully you do to? (We know it's not just stidents - so we're asking you to set a good example!)

After the party ends - please keep noise levels down when going home, and finish the party at the party!

FXU budgeting talks provide an understanding of what budgeting involves and how it can be applied in student life. If you would like to know more please contact Tim Port, Presidentwelfare@fxu.org.uk

Get it on - STI Awareness Day

'Get it on day', an awareness day about Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). .  FXU did this awareness day, to get you to know more about STIs and the unfortunate consequences you could face if left untreated.

Personal Safety Week:

FXU held a Personal Safety Week on both campuses at the very beginning of the third term. This week raised awareness about your safety from fires and theft in your house and the effects of using illegal and harmful drugs to driving safely, sexual health and security, whether it is at home or for your personal security.

Mark your property - bring down crime!

Thieves like expensive, portable items that are easy to sell on. Marking your personal possessions like laptops, cameras or mobile phones can stop them from targeting you and can make life more difficult for the criminal if they do decide to steal any marked items.

Drink Awareness and 'sshhhhh' campaign

FXU held a week of raising awareness about the dangers of alcohol. Advice on drinking safely, how to avoid incidents of alcohol-related violence and how to make sure you get home safely at the end of a night out. Also making students more aware of noise disturbance around the community after nights out.

FXU Campaigns 06/07

Safe sex

FXU believe that everyone should act responsibly with regards to sexual health. We have condoms available to anyone who needs them and promote a mature approach to looking after yourself and others.

Healthy living

Living healthily promotes a healthy body and mind so we support many areas including sports, activities, the gym and healthy eating.  To encourage healthy living,  FXU held a Health and Wellness Day at Tremough Campus.

Drink spiking

This is a very serious matter and FXU have been involved in many areas of building awareness and have worked with local organisations and venues to ensure that everyone including students are being looked after.

Drugs

Drug abuse can be a very serious problem for many people so FXU work closely with organisations such as FRANK to ensure that we are spreading the word Security

If there are any other campaigns that you would like to see us hosting then please feel free to send us a line and we'll see what we can do together.
